Crystal Cities doodles

The Confused Angels

Above the citadel, a flock of angels descend

(Which is quite a feat in itself).

They argue: Love him! Smite him!

They hover

They swoop

They go loop-the-loop

Call headquarters! The commandment comes:

"Love him"

But the varmint is long gone by then

And the angels retreat to the bar

for a seminar.

To smite!

To love!

They raise their glasses to Love

and toast to the work before them.

"Tomorrow is another day!"

Where your Inside is Out and your Outside is In.

Where Falling feels like Climbing, a mind-bending Odyssey!

Globe-encircling Odysseus wearily spies Ithaca where anagrammed Penelope keeps her counsel in a thimble-dark tower.

Ithaca! So near and eternally far!!

The Occupation

Weeds grow where wheat once proudly stood

Intricately tiled domes succumb, a dark mysterious wood.

The weathervane spins but no one looks

a black cat watches the laundry dry

And idled soldiers wet their lines

Achilles remains unfocused… why?
