Words and birds, high and low

Scary black birds and ominous words

Brown birds in the rafters. There were birds in the basement. Yellow birds in the walls. The house sang until one day it flew away!

A moonlit night, the orb glares a one-note klaxon. Quizzical constellations spread and then fade from view. Below, a black turgid forest of long-haired trees hides brooding rabbits and other angular things with bright eyes that sigh, scrape, go clomp clomp and gnaw at our summer sleep.
